Cambridge Digital Humanities (CDH) welcomes Dr Jean-Philippe Échard (Music Museum Paris) as well as Oulfa Belhadj (CRCC Paris) to the final Digital Afterlives event this term. This seminar will examine how the digital medium (in particular through X-Ray imaging) establishes a dialogue between paper waste, parchment fragments, and the musical instrument. Through a case study of the guitar 'La Vuillaume' (circa 1680), we will discuss how 'invisible' material texts become an intrinsic part of the (after)life of an instrument.
