What is a good ‘scientific’ image? Do we need to know what an object is before we can draw it? Or do we need to know how to draw, before we can see an object properly? Join our drawing experiment to find out! 

This is a collaborative event organized by historians interested in how scientific images are made, and the curators of the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences. In this event, we will first ask you to draw some mystery objects from the Sedgwick Museum. A curator will then explain to you what the objects are, and our art instructor will give you some drawing tips. You will then have a chance to draw the object again. How will your drawing change? No prior experience of drawing or knowledge of earth sciences is required. Suitable for young teenagers upwards.
